Norway-based service company Archer has expanded its workload in the Americas through two new agreements covering offshore well decommissioning in the US Gulf of Mexico and land drilling in Argentina’s Vaca Muerta field.
In Argentina, Archer has reached a deal with Patterson-UTI to lease two high-specification drilling rigs for operations in Argentina’s Vaca Muerta formation. The units will work under Archer’s $600 million agreement with YPF, signed in December.
Gerardo Molinaro, Archer’s vice president of land drilling, said the additional high-spec rigs increase the company’s presence in Vaca Muerta’s unconventional field, support execution of the newly awarded contract with YPF, and help the firm respond to growing demand for drilling rigs in the market.
In parallel, Archer and SLB have been awarded an integrated P&A award by Equinor for the Titan platform in the US Gulf of Mexico.
The scope covers the permanent isolation of three wells on Titan. Archer will deliver services including engineering of the wells, coiled-tubing work, and downhole P&A technologies, together with other specialist support.
