Allseas has completed the heavy modification phase of the Topsides Lift System on Pioneering Spirit after a two-year upgrade programme.

All 16 lifting beams have been reinforced and fitted with new high-strength lifting levers. The installation of the final lever marked the end of the main modification work.

The upgrade, carried out by Allseas’ in-house teams, will increase the system’s lifting capacity by 25%, from 48,000 tonnes to 60,000 tonnes.

The programme involved engineering, fabrication and offshore execution across several disciplines.

Commissioning, integration and load testing will now follow. The work comes nearly 10 years after the Topsides Lift System completed its first commercial single lift.
