Seafarming Systems has dispatched six Aquatraz C2 closed fish farming cages from China to Norway aboard Boskalis semi-submersible heavy transport vessel Mighty Servant 3.
The six cages were built in sections by Blue Ocean Wind in Jieyang, Guangdong Province. They are expected to reach CCB Ågotnes near Bergen towards the end of October, where the sections will be assembled into complete cages.
Three of the Aquatraz C2 units are scheduled for delivery to Lerøy and the other three to SalMar. Seafarming Systems states that the deliveries are planned for October-November 2026.
Construction began with steel cutting at the Blue Ocean Wind yard in December 2025. The cages were fabricated as sections in China for transport to Norway, where the assembly stage will take place. Seafarming Systems signed an agreement with CCB for assembly work at CCB Ågotnes.
Aquatraz C2 was developed in 2025 and is based on the Aquatraz S1 supplied to Lerøy in 2024. According to Seafarming Systems, the C2 design uses a solid steel wall extending to a depth of 12 m, followed by a closed membrane. The system also includes sludge collection, oxygen addition and water exchange of two to three times per hour.
Technical data published by Seafarming Systems lists a farming volume of 60,000 m³ and an enclosed volume of 70,000 m³. The cage has a circumference of 163 m and biomass capacity of 1,500-2,000 tonnes, while pump power is listed at 45-60 kW.
After the shipment reaches Norway, the transported sections will undergo assembly at CCB Ågotnes ahead of the planned deliveries to Lerøy and SalMar.
