TWD has completed the conceptualization and design of seafastening grillages for jacket transportation on the Fengmiao I Offshore Wind Farm project.

The work was TWD’s first collaboration with SK Oceanplant and covered the transport of jackets from Korea to Taiwan.

The jackets were planned to be shipped as full or semi-assemblies. Load-out operations using Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs) were scheduled to begin at the end of 2025 and continue throughout 2026.

Tailored seafastening arrangements were developed for each jacket without requiring welding to the structures. The designs addressed load-out and transit requirements while maintaining structural integrity during transportation.

The engineering work also accounted for high sea-state conditions and the substantial weight of the jackets. Weight optimization and operational efficiency formed part of the design approach.
