Altera Infrastructure has completed the acquisition of its FPSO business by Carlyle, with the business now operating as an independent company focused on floating production solutions for the offshore energy industry.

The transaction was completed on 21 July 2026. As part of the deal, the FPSO business acquired the Altera Infrastructure brand and naming rights and will continue to trade under the Altera name.

The company starts independent operations with a portfolio of FPSO and FSO assets deployed across the North Sea, Brazil and West Africa.

Chris Brett has assumed the role of chief executive officer. He will lead a newly established executive leadership team covering commercial and major projects, operations, finance, legal, and people and culture.

Arne Hygen Tørnkvist is executive vice president and deputy CEO. Stephen Cox is chief financial officer, Runar Nyberg is chief operating officer, Martin King is general counsel, and Solveig Hellebust is senior vice president, people and culture.

Brett said the company’s priorities would include safe operations, project execution, customer relationships and the development and operation of floating production solutions.

Supported by Carlyle, Altera Infrastructure intends to pursue organic growth and strategic acquisitions.
