A memorandum of understanding between Dajin Heavy Industry and Zima Equity Investments sets out plans to develop an offshore wind foundation factory at the port of Gijon in northern Spain.

The partners said the facility is intended to supply the European offshore wind market, while also serving other international markets.

They added that the manufacturing site would help position Gijon as a marshalling hub for offshore wind projects in Europe, strengthening the port’s role within the sector’s supply chain.

Miguel Zorita, head of corporate development at Zima Equity Investments, said the new plant and marshalling activity would deliver an economic boost to the Asturias region and reinforce its strategic role in Europe’s energy transition. He also said the partners aim to bring local subcontractors and suppliers into the project supply chain.

Artur Pielech, business development manager at Dajin Heavy Industry, said the partnership would expand the group’s industrial presence in Europe, support local content development, and strengthen its global offshore foundations supply chain.
